I have been using this henna formula for the past three years and it is the only one I will ever use. I just love it. I have naturally medium auburn hair but it is going gray and this henna not only covers all gray hairs perfectly but it gives me a rich shade of red that people assume is natural (it’s not too far off from my original color, just a little more intense.) It is super bright for the first two days after coloring, but by about 3-5 days in it mellows and looks perfect until it’s time to color roots again. It does not fade like chemical red hair color, the color stays true.
Claire –
I bleached my hair forever and then eventually grew it out because it was tooooo damaged. I was bored with the natural color but didn’t want to go back to chemicals on my scalp. I used the pure henna and it was super easy and turned out amazing. Rich color, my hair feels amazing and the color lasts really well. I only have to dye it when my roots grow out and I wash it regularly with no issue.

I use your products exclusively! Pure henna mixed with ginger blonde, Nourish and Repair, Soften and Shine, and Lemongrass and Rosemary shampoo and conditioner. My hair is healthier and thicker than I could have ever imagined. The color is outstanding. Thank you so much!
Mariah –
I always used lush henna dye before trying this & I’ll never go back. The henna was easier to prepare, was much another, smelt better, & had incredibly vivid color pay off with only 1/3 of the time left in my hair before rinsing. Highly recommend! I did use a blog tip by letting the mix stay in the bowl for about 8 hours at room temperature before applying.

I started using henna to dye my hair last year and this is my favorite henna. I have naturally dark blonde hair and the color is perfect. My hair always feels great afterward and looks very shiny. The color stays really great over time and I usually only redo it once my roots grow out. The shipping is also really great and comes quickly!

This is my first time ever using henna, and overall it wasn’t as messy as it could have been! The gloves make it difficult to apply the henna because they’re SO big, they were flopping around on my hands. Next time I do this I will definitely invest in some medical gloves.
Now, the hair I started with was natural roots (medium brown with blonde and red highlights), highlighted mids, and bleached ends. I will tell you this now in case this may sway your decision to use henna: if you have hair that is bleached blonde, the henna will turn it orange. Not fiery, coppery, gingery orange, but pumpkin orange. This doesn’t upset me too much, as I’ve dyed my hair bright colors in the past, and I have the right skin tone to make orange work. That being said, I will definitely use this again, as my roots are a lovely dark copper color with my natural highlights coming through. Once I grow out the bleached part of my hair, I can actually achieve my ginger goals with this particular color. Perhaps I could get that now if I used the wine red, but using pure henna really appeals to me. I’ll just have to keep experimenting!

Absolutely love this henna. I’m a natural blonde so the color turned out great. I get many compliments on how natural the red looks. I love how you can keep doing touch-ups without having to worry about the color changing. I’ll only use Henna Color Lab, it’s very trustworthy.
Katie –
Perfect! I highly recommend this brand for henna hair dye. TIP: dying over previous henna color (for root touch ups) will darken the color. If you want to keep the henna color light, be careful not to overlap the dye too much.
Caytlyn –
Absolutely love this product! 2 weeks ago, I applied the Detox & Purify to my hair, a week later I did the Nourish & Repair treatment. I have long (mid-back hair) and used 2 packets for each of those. Practicing with those products also made my henna applying go much smoother than my initial attempt. I applied 2.5 packets of the pure henna yesterday morning. After covering with a cap it sat for 4 hours. Then I rinsed with warm water while lying down in the bathtub, letting the water hit just run through my hair. It took 15 or so minutes to run nearly clear. Some light agitating at the root helps move particles out, but the water will really work its magic on its own. Then, I applied my Andalou Natural conditioner and let sit for ~5 minutes before rinsing. As with all of these products, right after rinsing my hair felt dry/tangled. I let it fully air dry THEN gently brush it. I can’t stress enough how much less tangled it was this time around due to my application process being much more organized! My hair is dark brown naturally and had some dark purplish tints to it from chemical dye (last chemical dye was 11/2019). Today my hair is a beautiful dark reddish/auburn color! It’s super shiny and healthy feeling too. I am so excited I finally tried henna!!
Application Tip: Separate your hair into 4 sections, as instructed. Then, using gloved hands and/or application brush, starting at the back, apply the henna/treatment to the root only, about 3-4 inches up your hair. Work from back to front with this process. Then, starting at the front, apply henna/treatment to the rest of the length of hair, stacking on top of the head as you work your way to the back. With such long hair this really helped the henna stay off of my body and clothes and allowed for an easier, more thorough application AND less tangled, quicker removal.

I came upon Henna Color Lab after researching a lot of different brands. First off, I ordered both Ginger Blonde & Red (Pure Henna) on Wednesday, April 1st and I received both on April 3rd. I’m in Georgia so this is super fast shipping! I wanted to try out both colors on just two different strands of hair so I mixed a tiny bit (beard recommendation) of each and waited exactly an hour after applying. I have naturally red hair (auburn-copper mix) but it has been fading the last couple years, just getting darker. I have never colored or highlighted my hair. The ginger blonde didn’t change my hair that much… sort of dirty blonde with red tint for me. The red is really pretty and much closer to my born color! Not artificial-looking at all. I plan on doing the red all throughout the base of my hair – to add color, maybe just not on the roots. It really is the brightening boost that I was looking for. If you’re unsure, try a small piece of hair first. I have very long hair so I was fortunate to be able to do this. I think the color will be different for everyone depending on your natural color & if you’ve treated it.

I have used henna to enhance my naturally red, but fading, hair for close to 10 years, now. I have always used LUSH brand, but decided to try Henna Color Lab after reading about the high quality of the products. I could not be happier with the process or the results! I mixed one pouch each of the pure henna and finger blonde shades, and the mixing and application were both much easier than the LUSH, which is mixed with cocoa butter into solid blocks. It was less messy, creamier, and covered my hair much better during application. It also took less time to develop a rich orange hue. The pigment is so pure, I may adjust to a higher concentration of the ginger blonde next time. I am very pleased with this dye and will be ordering more right away so that I can always have it on hand!

I have light brown hair, and I’ve been using box dye for years to dye my hair red. The pure henna has a much better color payoff than my most of the light red dyes I’ve tried.
My hair takes color really well, so I don’t know if it would be the same result for everyone, but the pure henna leaves me with really bright coppery red hair. Seriously exactly what I was looking for color wise.
Stephanie –
I love the Pure Henna! I’m a natural red head and was very pale blonde trying to get back to my red hair I tried so many boxed dies in red from different brands and most left my hair a purplish pink the two that were a natural color faded to a pale pinkish purple tone. I felt like I was dyeing my hair with kool aid packets or something I felt sad about my hair then tried this pure henna and the color was beautiful and super vibrant I couldn’t stop smiling and looking at it I’m so happy with it and have ordered more with the valentine’s bundle deal…. thank you for the savings on this beautiful color!

i’ve been doing the 2 step henna & indigo for 6 years now and my hair is better than ever. this methodology has unbelieveable coverage for my very difficult to dye grey hairs….i get a very warm black that looks 100% natural. the henna hydrates my hair and i no longer need to use conditioner – it stays super soft all the way thru to my next henna coloring. also since i’ve been using HCL for so long, my hair seems to accept the color for much longer….i don’t get a lot of fading. thank you HCL.
Dani –
I’ve used your products for a while now and I love them. The conditioners are amazing. I use the pure henna in my hair and my mom’s. My mom uses the henna to cover her gray so we apply it monthly. But I notice lately with my hair and my mom’s that the henna doesn’t always take. This has happened about 2 or 3 times in about a 18month period. I was wondering did y’all changed the formula?
Stacey –
Finely milled and pure! I love all of Henna Lab’s products and this is no exception, Rather than going with a premixed color, I bought the basic ingredients for color mixing and made my own color – it’s been fun and has turned out great! The best part is that if you’re not satisfied with the amount of red or brown or warmth or coolness of your color you can turn around and do it over again without a waiting period and it has just made my hair so much shinier and stronger. Love you guys!!
Parker –
I’ve been dying my hair with Henna for about 3 years now, trying many different brands, but stumbled upon Henna Color Lab last week.
But never have I gotten such a rich color with smooth application. Very fine powder, and easy to apply (easiest to apply to damp hair). Highly recommend this product.
Customer support answered by email within 3 hours, and the shipping is quite quick as well! Y’all are a wonderful company to work with.
Lily –
It’s…red. Definitely red. If you’re wanting ginger/red hair then this is definitely for you. It doesn’t quite look like the examples in the pictures though. I had dark blonde hair with lighter blonde highlights and I mixed one packet of this natural henna with two of the ginger blonde packets hoping for a bit of a brighter version of the ginger blonde…and now I have red red hair. I’m a ginger now and I don’t know how to feel about it, but that’s not this products fault. I should’ve done more research or a stand test at the very least.
On the bright side, my hair feels very healthy and soft. I haven’t seen it this shiny in awhile.
For reference, I started with Elisabeth Olsen hair and ended up with Madeline Petsch hair. It’s not bad, just more than I expected. Great product though

I was pretty hesitant about using henna to dye my hair since it’s so curly, dry and frizzy. But chemical dyes were making it worse and I was having to dye it more often because my hair grows like crazy and I have this huge patch of white hair right at the front.
Well, I’m glad I did because it’s been amazing! Firstly, I had no issues at all applying it. It was super easy and mess free. It COMPLETELY covered all my white hair in one application! And while it did dry my hair out a little bit, it was only the ends which are still damaged from the chemical dyes but I used some conditioner a few days after I hennaed and it was actually softer than ever.

I am so amazing in love with this product!
I used to buy my henna from another company. Within the last year their formula had changed so much that my hair would no longer absorb it. I took a chance on this product because of the new manufacturer.
I had no idea my hair could look so healthy and full. And the color results blew me away. Far beyond expectations. The color didn’t fade or wash out after the first shampoo. I am 100% impressed. I am now a lifetime customer. Thank you.

I combined pure henna with cassia to make my own dye. Starting with blonde hair, I wanted to acheive a golden, strawberry blonde color.
The dye worked beautifully! I mixed with hot tap water, applied and left on for 2 hours. I rinsed with water only, and after a few minutes applied conditioner.
My fine hair is now thick and shiny, and the grey hairs around my temples are now fully covered – strawberry blonde.
I will definately but more of this henna!
Meghan –
A great henna product. It’s so easy, and I actually like the smell–like green tea. The colors are beautiful, and they tell you exactly what you’re putting on your head.
mega.megan65 –
I think this is the like third time reviewing this but wow! My hair has never looked more beautiful!! 😍😍
Cat Goodwin –
I’ve messed around with lush henna bars and got tired of the mixing process.
Henna Color lab henna packs are finely milled and easy to mix up. Because henna is their main ingredient, it’s more potent and it requires less sitting time on your head.
I made the mistake of adding boiling water the first time, so it didn’t color my hair that much. Kept the water at 120 the next go around and my black hair had a nice orange sparkle in the light. In normal lighting, it made my black hair look dark brown.
Love it. Bought more!
Alisha –
I have been using wine red for about a year now. I absolutely love it! I have thick hair down to my hips and I use 2 packages (I used 3 for my first application) and every time I re color I get better and better results. I’ll Never use another.products again!
Campbell –
The best henna I have ever used! I’ve been dying my hair with henna for about four years and previous tried several brands to get the color I was looking for, but many were weak, or effective but very messy and hard to wash out. Henna Color Lab is without a doubt the best I’ve tried, and I think I’ll definitely be sticking with it as long as I dye my hair! It’s the perfect color and doesn’t have to be left on overnight to produce great results, and it’s easy to apply and rinse out.
Maddie –
I had never done henna before but I can tell you I’m never using anything else to dye my hair. I absolutely loved the results and my hair still was so healthy afterwards. The package came with everything I’d need and it turned out just how it said it would. Would recommend doing these dyes over any other.

I loooooooooove my Henna Color Lab Pure Henna Hair Dye and have been a faithful user for at least two years! I have naturally auburn hair, and this makes my grays appear as strawberry blonde highlights. Once a month I use pure henna on my roots, and use the neutral henna hair treatment on my length…and my hair is longer and healthier than ever before! I sincerely plan to use this stuff for the rest of my days! 🙂
Aleia –
I highlighted my hair with henna for the first time two days ago, and absolutely loved it! I have dark brown hair, so I left the henna on for 3 hours. After rinsing it out, I was left with beautiful auburn highlights. They were way more vivid than I anticipated, but exactly what I was hoping for! The gloves provided are very bulky are hard to use, so you may want to buy a pair of your own (I just used my hands so now my fingers are a lovely bright orange!). This is a fantastic product, and I will definitely be purchasing again.

Can I just say, damn. Good job. Never have I ever come across a hair product that does exactly what is promised. My hair color is amazing and every time I use henna my hair gets healthier. This was my first time using the henna from Color Lab. It was the best I’ve used. Easy to apply, like soft mud, and wasn’t gritty so I know it wasn’t jacking up my strands. I love this product so much I fell for th super bundle deal and added a detox scalp tratment and red dry shampoo. I love how safe and purchase the products are while being inexpensive enough for me to buy while living on a budget. I am grateful for this company and their products. I highly recommend.
Lura –
The color is amazing! I have been using the pure henna to color my greys for a couple years now. The gloves….they are the most pointless, useless things ever. Which is why I’m only giving 4 stars. But don’t let that stop you from buying the color, just get your own gloves!
Kim Wiley –
I absolutely love henna color lab henna!! After sporadically using various different brands of henna through the years, with mixed results, henna color lab came into my life and I will never use another brand ever again! The ingredients are 100% natural, the process is easy peasy, and the final result is unbelievably rich and gorgeous. Oh, and the price is right! This is the holy grail for henna!!
Kaity –
*Update*
After a week or two, the color settled further into a perfect, natural copper red that is gorgeous! I get so many compliments and no one ever realizes it’s not natural until I tell them. I wish I could post a picture… I could not be more happy with my hair! Seriously, anyone looking for natural red hair should try half pure henna, half wine red. Like I said in my first review, don’t freak out by how bright it is at first…
as a side note, I used half water and half coconut milk to make my paste and it washed out in 10 min no problem and only bled on my towel for a few days with absolutely no mess in my shower. I didn’t even have to wash my tub, the dye just rinsed away no problem.
Kaity –
I’ve been wanting red hair for a long time. REAL red, not orange or strawberry blond or auburn or burgundy or fire engine red, but deep, rich red. I searched traditional chemical hair dyes everywhere and found nothing like what I wanted. Finally someone told me to try henna.
Following the advice of another reviewer, I dyed my virgin dark blond hair with a half and half mix of pure henna and wine red. I was super worried about having either orange or fire engine colored hair since that is common for lighter hair colors. It turned out beautiful! Because my natural hair color is lighter, the red is quite bright. It’s a beautiful balance of warm copper of the pure henna with the cool, deep red of the wine red. Definitely not orange or pink.
When I first washed out the dye, I was freaked out by my little mermaid hair. After a day or so, it settled into a more deep, coppery, natural-ish color that is quite stunning. In low light, the color looks quite natural. In the sun or bright light, the color is obviously too bright to be natural, but not overtly artificial. If my hair were brown instead of blond, it would be a super natural looking rich, deep red with brown tones, too red to be auburn but in that dark family. I’m probably going to add a tablespoon or two of indigo with my red mix next time to get a darker, more natural color.
Either way, I love being a red head and my hair has never felt so good! All my split ends and frizzies disappeared! I even blow dried my hair upside down which usually results in all my frizzies and baby hairs sticking straight up. I got nothing but shiny, smooth hair! And it only took me 15 min to wash out all the dye with zero staining of my white bathroom 🙂 and when dry, there’s zero bleeding on my linens and clothes.
This has been an amazing experience and I will definitely be a life long customer!
Julie Silverman –
This was WAAAAYYY easy for my “just shy of” shoulder length hair. I used to dye with chemical dye, blond hair, but then I tried red dye about 2 months ago and ended up with scalp burn for the whole 2 months. So I investigated all the henna brand’s available and found henna color lab to claim no wait times from mix to application and only a 1-2 hour wait time. It was ALL true. Much easier than I thought and the color is amazing. Best part for me, besides all the compliments from friends & family, NO ALLERGIC REACTION. 🙂 In fact, my scalp actually feels revived after application & drying. THANK YOU HENNA COLOR LAB. THANK YOU!!!!
Conor Murphy –
Do I hate it? No, but I definitely don’t love it.
I’m a 35-year-old man who is a natural, coppery ginger and I wanted to brighten up my hair and cover the few grays that seem to be multiplying. I ordered the Pure Henna thinking it would be super subtle on my natural color.
First off, it arrived in two days. That’s Amazon Prime fast and I appreciate that.
It was very easy to use; I followed the directions and didn’t have any mess. Like others have said, the gloves are dumb, but they worked fine. If I were doing it again, I’d buy some latex gloves. But, I’ve never colored my hair before and this was super easy.
The smell that previous reviewers have mentioned, well it’s not bad. It’s like dried leaves or when you stick your nose in a jar of dried oregano. It smells like dried foliage.
I was nervous, so I left it on for only 30 minutes and thank goodness I did. When I finished blow drying my hair, it was traffic-cone orange. I remembered that henna takes time to mature, so I relaxed while I pondered shaving my head.
It did mature and now it’s red–like RED. I read all of the reviews and folks were talking about how they have a lovely shade of red. Well, I thought that was a bit of hyperbole because red heads don’t actually have red, like crimson, hair. Nope, now my hair is red like a cranberry.
I feel super silly about my hair now, but friends and coworkers tell me it looks great and natural. They say it just brightened and darkened my natural color. I think they’re lying, but I can live with it.
In retrospect, I should have ordered the Ginger Blonde, though it’s lighter than my natural shade. I think that would have more closely resembled what I’m looking for, but I don’t fault the company. They delivered on everything promised; henna is just a gamble.
Would I recommend this? Yes. But before you click Submit on your order, ask yourself, “Am I prepared for the results whether they be good, bad, or cranberry?”

I’m Asian and I have thin fine black hair and I was a little nervous about using henna to dye my hair. The color is beautiful! It’s VERY subtle but in different light it ranges from a red to a light brown color but that’s just what I was looking for. I followed the instructions and left it in for about 3 and a half hours. If you’re looking for a subtle change in color, BUY IT!

I have been using Henna Color Lab for a year now. I won’t use anything else anymore. It makes my hair feel so healthy and strong … no more damage and breaking strands. My hair doesn’t feel like straw after I henna. I have tried Copper Brown, Pure Henna, and Light Brown. I love all of them, but since I’m an autumn with ivory skin, I think the Pure Henna probably looks best with my skin tone. All are gorgeous, though, and I constantly get compliments on each one. I do wish they came with better gloves, and that the henna didn’t smell so bad during the process, but that does go away. It’s totally worth it.
Desiree –
I love, love, love it!!! My hair is naturally very coarse and dry and wavy. Coloring it with regular chemical hair dyes was wreaking havoc on my hair. Henna Color Lab has saved my hair! I have been using the pure Henna for about a year now and I just can’t get enough of it. It gives me a rich, bright, shiny copper red that lasts five times as long as regular hair dye. Pure Henna has actually improved the overall texture and health and shine of my hair. My hair is softer and more manageable and I get compliments all the time about how healthy it looks. I am also using an HCL shampoo bar and conditioner and they are just fabulous. This is the best my hair has ever been in my life! A word of caution though, this may not be for everyone! My mother who has completely white hair purchased the light brown Henna and even after several applications to achieve color saturation she still ended up with bright red hair. Thankfully she loves it and is OK with bright red but it definitely did not turn out light brown like she had anticipated.

Looooove pure henna! I’ve been using it for a few months now, I’ve done 3 applications and it gets better each time.
A couple disclaimers–it does take quite some time to apply and then it has to stay on your hair for an hour or more, so it’s definitely a time commitment. I usually leave it on for just over an hour with great results but I see that a lot of people leave it on longer–I’m just lazy 😛 The other disclaimer, the first time I used henna, it was this awful brassy orange for the first 24 hours or so. I was pretty unhappy with the color and was dreading going to work the next day. By the end of my work day, though, the color had matured and became an awesome red-orange. The maturing period lessens with each application, it looked good immediately after the next applications, and got a little better over the next two days.
Final disclosure: consider buying your own gloves. The ones provided are cheap, they often slide off or rip. Not the end of the world, your hands are orange for a couple days but it fades quickly.
Even with these disclaimers, I give this stuff 5 stars. My hair is soooo soft and healthy, and though the color does fade some over time, it looks great for months (other than my roots hahaha). I love that it’s healthy, a great alternative to harsh chemical dyes that are so terrible for you, your skin and the environment. Plus, I’ve transitioned to using cruelty free products, you won’t find too many box dyes that fit that bill. I could just rave about this stuff all day!
Last time I added a couple tablespoons of indigo to my mix and it looks good. I was hoping for a more dramatically darker color so I’ll add a little more next time 🙂

This worked amazingly on my medium brown hair! I would say that it looks pretty close to the “finished” example above. I would defiantly use this henna again!

I love this stuff!! I have dyed my hair every color under the sun (black, blond, red, in all various shades) and have been using henna for a few months. I used to buy the henna from a place in India (at least that was their claim). It was complicated, but I did it. The process with their henna required me to heat the henna to let the dye release and then apply it to my head for no less than 4 hours. All said the process took a day and a half. I did this twice before giving it up completely. Then I found Henna Color Lab; their henna is so amazing that there is no dye releasing, no required additives, nothing. Just heat the water, mix the henna, apply to head and wait 2 hours. The results were unbelievable, and most people wonder if I’ve “gone back” to my natural color. I’ve also had zero fading or issues with discoloration and I use all kinds of shampoo (natural, dandruff, co-wash, etc.). I also love that I can dye my hair as often as I want without damage and no more red-colored towels!! If you dye your hair red and you’re interested in something you can manage that makes your hair look natural do not hesitate GET. THIS. HENNA.

This product is fantastic! I had my hair colored professionally from blonde to red. I really loved it but it faded so quick and spending a lot of money each month for hair color wasn’t going to work out. On top of that I really didn’t want to put anymore chemicals in my hair because I have been bleaching my hair for 2 years. I had pretty faded red hair. I contacted them and sent them a picture of the color my hair was at its best. She helped me by telling me to get Pure Henna and Ginger Blonde. I did it last night. I was SO NERVOUS! It wasn’t really that messy it just smelled like….”trees and mud.” I washed it out and I am in love! I am so happy! This color is so vibrant and gorgeous! I have super big curly hair so I kind of look like Brave right now and love it! They are super helpful! I will be using this forever! I will never go to a salon for hair color ever again!
Thank you so much!

I keep trying and trying with this brand, but just can’t get decent results. I’ve been using baq henna for over 15 years, from another brand. It’s permanent, easy to wash out, and when I started getting grays, it covered them with no problem. I’ve had zero of these results with Portland Henna. I’ve followed their instructions, and also did it the way I used to (letting the henna sit over night in vinegar water) and with both methods, the result was a very temporary gloss over my very dark hair, and orangey color over parts that are bleached, and the grays turning kind of a yellow. After a few weeks, my grays would be fully gray again, and the bleached parts were a pale orange, except on the parts I had used my old henna, where it was a vibrant red a year later . After using the last bag today that I had, and getting again minimal results, I’m headed back to my old company. I’m Indian, where henna comes from, so I know that henna and my hair are very compatible. It is very thick, and this stuff just doesn’t seem to penetrate it. The supplied gloves ripped on me today, and I didn’t have any others, so I applied the henna with bare hands. After a few washings of my hands, neither my skin nor nails have an a henna tint. With my other stuff, my skin would be stained for weeks if I ever did that.

I have been using lush henna for a few years now, I found it hard to find the right henna color. I am naturally auburn and colored my hair dark brown for years with chemicals 🙁 I cut my hair short 2 years ago and that’s when I started using henna, I discovered henna color lab after reading online reviews and decided to go for it. I used the pure henna last week & Oh my goodness the color is amazing, it is beautiful & I have already received compliments. The whole coloring process was easy compared to what I was used to with henna. The henna is smooth and goes on beautifully, the smell isn’t too strong and the color develops quickly. I was used to leaving henna on for over 3 hours. Thank you for a beautiful product!

I was very skeptical about trying out this product mainly because I had never henna dyed my hair before. I have very thick brown curly hair and was worried about how it would affect my hair. I bought two packs of the dye and it was simple, easy to follow, and not very messy at all. It has been three days and I LOVE my hair. It has a beautiful auburn and red tint to it and it refreshed my curls! SO OBSESSED…. love that this brand is also organic. If you are nervous about trying don’t be! These products are awesome! 🙂

Great service, fab company, absolutely stunning results! A month after one application, the color is still so vibrant! I’ve always wanted to be a redhead. It preserves all your highlights and lowlights and natural variations! The earthy smell I quite liked, I guess if you don’t–just be advised that it will linger in your hair for a few washings. I went to prom a week after applying and the heat and sweat of dancing made me smell my own hair lol, I felt like a henna goddess XD ..also really gross but it was a blast. I’ve gotten loads of compliments! People I’ve rarely talked to at school told me they loved the color!!
There’s something about henna color that’s a tiny bit different from all other hair colors i’ve seen. It’s tangibly made my hair thicker and stronger (I have very fine hair.) The color is extremely rich and deep, like it has an extra dimension to it or something. In the sun it just lights up like a flame, it’s really gorgeous!!!! Thank you henna color lab!! <3

I have been using henna for about 10 years now. I can say that Henna Color Lab has the most consistent color results than any other henna I have used. I mix 2 parts pure henna with 1 part light brown and the result on my naturally mouse brown hair is a gorgeous medium copper with glowing red highlights. Add a little sunlight and my hair just lights up! When people refer to me as a natural red head, I do not correct them. It’s my secret that I’m a red head by choice! The color last forever, I color my full head once a year, root touch ups every 2-3 months, more frequently in winter months for the sole purpose of the amazing conditioner aspects of henna. This stuff leaves my hair soft, shiny and full of body. Good-bye harsh damaging chemical color forever!

This was the first time I had ever dyed my hair, and I love it! I did my research well! I knew I didn’t want to go the chemical dye route, and when I came across henna, I was sold! After reading the reviews on this site, I ordered the pure henna dye.
I was really worried initially that the color would come out too orange and I wouldn’t like it – but it’s perfect! I went from my light brown hair color, to a natural red-head looking color – it’s bright and fiery in the sun, but doesn’t look unnatural, which is exactly what I wanted. The process of mixing the henna and putting it into my hair was only a little messy (easy to clean up after), and a little time consuming, but worth the effort. I loved the smell of it, very strong earthy scent, like mud and strong tea. I used vaseline on my hairline, because I’m fair skinned, which helped keep my skin from getting dyed as well! I still got a little bit on my skin, which turned orange, but it really wasn’t a big deal because it disappeared in a day.
Rinsing it out took a lot of conditioner, but getting that first glimpse in the mirror was awesome! Right after rinsing it, it was a super bright fiery red, which deepened over the next several days – it’s gorgeous, and I’ve gotten a ton of compliments. It picked up all of my natural highlights, and my ends had been a little lighter too, so I’ve got a nice subtle gradient effect (a deeper red at my roots, and a lighter fiery color at the ends). The henna also left my hair very thick and voluminous for about a week or so – it was actually difficult to get a comb through it for that period of time, which was slightly annoying, but I really can’t complain about having nice thick healthy hair!
Overall I absolutely loved this product, and just got through ordering more dye to touch up my roots later on, and I’m going to try out the shampoo/conditioner too. I would definitely recommend it! I also love that this company is based in Portland – I live on the east coast now, but I’m originally from there. Thanks guys!

I am from southeastern Europe + Middle East. Henna is very common in Turkey and Greece. I grew up seeing my grandma henna her hair. I decided to go chemical free. I ordered henna indigo and cassia. I prepared my own mix. It turned out just great. My hair just looks like Emma stone’s.

I have been using this color for probably a year now, at least. I was worried I’d get “Lucy” hair but no, it works well with my naturally dark auburn hair and now that I’ve learned I have to leave it on longer, it colors my stubborn white hairs at my temple quite well. (In my case, two hours. YMMV).
I got a nice red color and MAYBE it will bleed a tiny bit the first time I wash after coloring. It really depends on how well it’s washed out after application. I LOVE this stuff. I’m going to try it on my eyebrows next. 😀
I’ve been trying to convert my friends. I was having problems with chemical dyes, even the “organic” ones. After using them for several years, they started burning my scalp. Henna is gentle and there’s no issues, and it’s all natural. I’m really happy with this product and they do tend to run some mighty nice sales. Plus, the stuff comes expertly packaged. The only thing I’d recommend is to buy your own gloves (theirs suck). I got a box of 100 from Amazon for like $10. Totally worth it and makes application easier – those damn plastic gloves you get with the pack are horrible, and you might as well not even use them as you will STILL be covered in henna. Trust me on this one. Even with that caveat, I HIGHLY recommend this product. I LOVE Henna Color Lab!

I’m writing this review 2 months after I dyed my hair, to provide a full scope of the experience. For my personal details: I have thick straight hair which is very long (an inch past my waist). The normal color is a dark shade of brown with auburn highlights and a bit of gray around my temples. I used 2.5 packages of the powder and ended up with a bunch left over so next time I’ll use only 2 packages. I mixed the power with warm tap water (Vermont country well water) and a splash of apple cider vinegar. I followed the directions: first washing twice with shampoo but not conditioner, and applying the paste to my wet hair. I left it on for 2 full hours, and then rinsed multiple times using only conditioner (not shampoo). It was a bear to get the stuff out, but with tenacity and a ton of conditioner it came out ok (I probably conditioned and rinsed it 6 full times after getting all the “mud” out). The act of rinsing it out died my fingernails orange so a word of advice to folks, wear gloves or maybe clear polish you can take off after. I got my nails back to normal by using a nail buffer. Now, to what you’re all waiting for…. I freaking **LOVE** the color! It’s beyond gorgeous! This is the color I always wished my hair was; rich auburn with red highlights where my grays were. The smell is very earthy, like wet mud and hay, but I kind of like it. It took about 10 days for the smell to go away. The texture of my hair was amazingly lustrous and soft for one week after. Like crazy pretty, so shiny and soft!! Then after a week or so it gradually reverted to the normal luster and texture. After a couple days the color deepened to a darker rich color which I also love – very natural looking. After 6 weeks I did a touch up on the gray roots around my face. It’s been 2 months now and I am thinking about re-doing all of my hair again, mostly because I love how rich and soft and shiny it was when it was fresh. **Point of caution: I did not use shampoo for 3 days after, and beyond that I used non-sulfate shampoo, however my hair continued to turn towels orange for a good while – like 3 weeks. If you have darker towels you won’t notice this. I noticed it at the gym where they have white towels.

My friends have been raving about henna hair colors for months. I’ve been wanting to try it, because I’m got a laundry list of allergies, but their methods involved some shenanigans with red tea and powder and I just didn’t have the time for that. I was so happy to find this website and these kits.
I am naturally somewhere between a dark honey blonde and a light brown. The pure henna color has me at ginger status which was not expected given the image on the website, but I am very, very pleased nonetheless.
And can we talk the price? Every time I get my hair done professionally, it’s upwards of 70 dollars. I’m in college, I can’t afford that ! But 13-ish including shipping? That fits every budget!
I also found that one packet of product is plenty for thick curly hair, if it’s in a long bob/bob. 😉
I will definitely be buying this again and trying out some other colors. This is fantastic.

First time using henna as hair dye (used the pure henna color) and it is amazing! The color is perfect! I’ve never received so many compliments, either. It’s great to have finally found a hair dye that’s natural and not full of chemicals. I will definitely be using this product from now on. 🙂

this is definitely the best henna i have ever used. it goes on easy. the smell is pleasant and not terribly strong compared with others. it covers grey stupendously! the color is gorgeous – i use medium brown. the fair trade eco/moral fiber is there. great company and product! keep up the good work. happy holidays & new year!

Similar to the other comments here, I wasn’t sure if I believed that every review was a 5 star – that’s unheard of on the internet! However, knowing that I was just done with harsh coloring on my long hair, I knew that I wanted to try a more natural, less harmful product. So I decided to give Henna a try. I did a lot of research first and stumbled upon this little, lovely website. I have natural dirty blonde hair that I’ve been chemically coloring copper-red for the last 10 years. My hair had gotten to the point of constant breakage – thoroughly damaged. So I ordered both the Henna Hair Treatment and Pure Henna. I was scared at first to jump right into using it because I had read on other sites that switching to Henna after chemical color-treating for so long could turn my hair greenish. So I emailed the sales address and asked for their advice on how to proceed. No joke – Sally responded to my email within 10 MINUTES with details on how to be approach coloring. She suggested that I wait at least one month since last dying with chemicals, then to do the hair treatment first – then wait a week for my hair to settle. That was great practice for me before jumping into using the color Henna. Then a week later, I added some lemon juice to the Henna mix and let is set up for 6 hours before using it. Then I did a strand test with the Pure Henna and it came out looking very red so I was nervous. But… went with it anyway. And I was AMAZED at the results. Very bright copper-red color for the first few days, but it fully processes after 48 hrs with no shampooing, only conditioner. Not only was my hair similar to the color that I got with chemical dyes, but it was richer with multiple dimensions – slightly darker red/auburn at my roots and underneath and lighter copper red throughout. EXACTLY the color that suits me and nobody even noticed a difference from my usual color. What they DO notice is how healthy my hair looks. It’s been 3 months and I get compliments about every other day from strangers. the color is hard to get any other way. The Henna restored my hair a lot and I realize that the more I use it (which is about every 5 weeks), the stronger and healthier it is. I experience a lot less breakage. While it’s a messy process (as with any Henna use) – it is totally worth the few hours it takes to get the healthy looking hair that I want – in the color that I want. I am totally sold and consider myself a life-long customer now!!! Wouldn’t put anything else in my hair after using this. It’s natural, it’s pure- it’s affordable. It’s awesome. Awesome products – Amazing customer service and company. Thank you!!!

i’m asian and i use this henna to cover my very stubborn grey’s then use the black henna for the second step. it completely covers my greys with a nice dark brown color and makes my hair color look very natural. i hated how chemical coloring made my hair color look so fake and obviously colored. henna color lab hair dyes are easy to use and my grey’s seem to stay away longer. a fan for life!

At first I didn’t believe in how all the reviews are were 5 stars. I can eat my words. I love this dye and I’m hooked on henna! My hair was previously bleached and I left the henna on for 2 hours. My hair came out a orange red (Just like Leelu from The Fifth Element). This color was not my goal but I fell in love with it anyways. I thought I was going to have to get Wine Red Henna dye for later but I’m so conflicted I think I’m going to stick with this gorgeous orange red color. My hair feels so much healthier then what it was before. Henna Color Lab has a new long term costumer!!! Thank you!!

I have been this product for 3 years now and fall in love with it all over again every time I color my hair. It’s the most beautiful coloring experience I’ve ever had and I’ve been coloring my hair for 18 years. I even had the color expert at the Aveda salon I go to comment on how beautiful my color was and couldn’t believe it when I told him it was henna. I’ll never color my hair with anything else.
Christine –
Love it. Made my hair look naturally light red/brown. The perfect color I wanted. I also love the “earthy” smell of a dark tea. Best way to add a little color to my hair. Matches the natural highlights I had to my hair. Color doesn’t “wash out” in the shower like chemical red dye. Beautiful product!
Helen –
Have dyed my hair with the natural henna dye three or four times now, I’m a natural brunette and this was the first time I ever colored my hair. I absolutely LOVE the color it turned out to be! Gradually my hair has turned from a dull brown to a three-dimensional, dark red color that has beautiful highlights! My hair is also now very healthy and soft, as well as not nearly as greasy as before I dyed it. Some things to keep in mind: The first day with the henna in your hair feels oily and disgusting. I thought something went wrong and was very frantic. After the first day, your hair gets right used to it and becomes soft and shiny! Nothing to worry about! I would totally recommend this to anyone looking for a natural way to tweak their color, or just in general to anyone who wants this great color. I already dragged two of my friends into it and they love it! 500 star rating!

HEAVENLY.
I really wish i would have found this stuff sooner. I have been using (and wasting my money) on lush’s henna hair dye and i never really looked into any other hennas until i fell off the wagon and decided i wanted to be blonde (huge mistake). I ended up with extremely damaged hair, and have had to cut about 4-6 inches off. I tried a lush bar and it stayed in my hair for two days. TWO DAYS :(. I chalked it up to my hair being so bright blonde so i tried looking for other chemical-free alternatives. I found Henna Color Lab after a few youtube reviews and researched the website. I was impressed with how many different color options there are!! I went with the pure red henna, because i just wanted my hair to take to something! I tried for the first time today and OH MY GOODNESS i wish i would have known about this stuff sooner.
First off the mixing process is so much simpler: no cutting, grating, or any of that unneccessary crap- just add hot water and you are good to go 🙂 and because it is so fine sifted, the result is a super-creamy paste with no lumps and no messy globs all over your bathroom!! This made for easier cleanup. As for all hennas it is time consuming, especially of you are doing it yourself but it is worth it. I waited about 2 1/2 hours, then just stuck my head under the bath faucet and rinsed it all out, with just a bit of conditioner. The color result is absolutely gorgeous. On my bleached hair it has turned a very deep red-orange and i am very pleased !! If you are debating on this go for it!! You wont be dissapointed, i will only be shopping here for my henna needs from now on 🙂

OMG, I have found my color and I AM HOME!!!!
I LOVE henna. I started out here with auburn, then wine red, and then I went to pure henna. I wish I would have started here, because THIS IS MY COLOR. It’s a LOVELY copper “red-red” and I ABSOLUTELY love it!
Henna is SO awesome for hair. I’ve been using it for about 4-5 months now, and my hair (I’m 48, firmly in the land of soon-to-be-crap hair) is soft, silky, healthy, feels thicker (like I’m 16!) and I just LOVE the feel of my hair on this stuff! SO much better than chemical processes that dry out the hair – I just CANNOT say enough nice things about this product! I will NEVER go back to chemical coloring!
Samantha –
I am totally in love with henna!!!! My hair was pinkish-purple with red streak, black roots with white hairs showing through. I was slightly hesitant about what colour my hair would end up being, but I ended up with fiery red with bright orange streaks!!!! And my dark roots are a deep auburn, and the whites are bright strands of red. I couldn’t be happier and how light and vibrant my hair ended up being. As well, I have very fine hair and lots of it, so store bought and salon hair dyes often left my hair frizzy, damaged, and weak after, but not the henna. My hair is super strong now and knots are almost non-existent. The application was easy and well worth the effort and wait!!! Can’t wait to try all of the other colours and start doing combinations. 🙂 Thank you for creating and offering such a wonderful product.

I have always craved red hair and had an intense envy for all natural red heads. Unfortunately, the only time i attempted to dye my hair with conventional chemical dyes, my hair became brittle and fell out. Recently, I went vegan and in changing over my beauty products to cruelty-free options I learned that henna is vegan and all natural! I looked at several companies and decided to try Henna Color Lab. I bought the starter pack, and chose auburn to start out and pure henna to touch up later. The auburn turned my medium dark brown hair a rich auburn with vibrant red hues in the sunlight. I was instantly smitten. Two weeks later, I was noticing that my hair was bleeding slightly which I attest more to the fact that my city’s water has a very strong chlorine smell/taste too it then to the fault of Henna Color Lab. Also, the first two days after applying the henna, my scalp was intensely itchy. Again, I do not place the blame on Henna Color Lab. My skin is very sensitive so I expected some kind of reaction. I just dyed my hair with the pure Henna yesterday to cover some spots I had initially missed. On top of the auburn, the pure henna is now a vibrant red and gorgeous. I love it!

This was my first time coloring my hair with henna. I researched henna hair dyes thoroughly and I am so glad I went with Henna Color Lab. I colored my hair by myself and made very little mess none on my counter sink skin only on my old t shirt. The smell to me is like tea mixed with mud. My hair feels softer and fuller. I had hair that I have been chemically coloring red for 11 years I’ve been every shade of red imaginable. This is my all time favorite shade and I will be using henna color lab from now on.

I had gotten pure henna hair dye during the Black Friday sale last year along with a couple of hair treatments. My hair is naturally black and I wanted to get a more noticeable orange color so I decided to lighten my hair to a dark brown, but instead I got a really light yellow blonde (almost platinum) because I had mixed too much developer with the lightening powder. I was upset because I did not know whether the henna dye would come out good (that it was going to be brighter than what I wanted, and quite frankly I thought my hair was going to fall out because of how fast my hair had turned blonde!
Well, 2 days after i lightened my hair I used the henna hair treatment first in order to make sure that my hair was not completely damaged. I loved the hair treatment! It left my hair feeling really soft and thick. I waited a couple of more days because I was still hesitant on using the hair dye, but I figured what the heck! Why not.
I mixed the henna with really hot water, and I did not add any other ingredients to it like most other people that reviewed this had done. I then applied it evenly throughout my hair, put the cap on, and left it on for 2 hours. I wouldn’t say that it was hard to rinse it out, but it did take a while because it’s like a very thick muddy substance.
I then blow dryed my hair and I was shocked at the results! My hair was a super bright orange, and I loved it! i knew that the color would settle down after a while, and as I’m writing this review about a month after doing the color, it has toned down to a medium orangey red color. I am actually very pleased with this product! I even think that as I was washing the henna out of my hair, that it was removing some remnants of the blue I had previously done on the tips of my hair (when I lightened my hair they turned green) so my tips are like a brown-orange color. I’m sure if I use this henna again they would be completely orange as well! Overall I am very please with henna color labs products.

I just rinsed the henna out 10 minutes ago, but I had to come leave a review right away: this is the best hair color I’ve ever used. Period. Including commercial dyes.
I’d been wanting to henna for a long time but wanted to be closer to my natural color first (after years of black hair dye!), a medium brown. I let the South Florida sun fade the black out naturally, let it be for a while, and then did a bleach bath on my hair. This stripped the color out and my hair was mostly brown again, with a few patches of darker hair that weren’t noticeable unless you were up close. Then I waited two months, and switched to only organic hair care, before I henna’d.
I finally did it today! I used one packet of 100% henna, with hibiscus tea, 1 tsp of apple cider vinegar, and a few drops of coconut oil. After dying my hair myself for years, applying the henna was no-sweat, although more like putting clay in your hair than anything else! I put on the shower cap and wrapped my hair in a towel, and let it sit for 2 hours.
After all the horror stories the internet told me about how hard it is to get henna out of your hair, I was pleasantly surprised that rinsing it out didn’t take any longer than a commercial dye would, about 10-15 minutes tops. Using lots of thick conditioner helped too!
I eagerly towel-dried my hair and blew it dry, and lo-and-behold, I came away with the auburn hair of my dreams! It looks so natural and beautiful that I can’t get over it. THIS is the hair color I was meant to have! Thanks Henna Color Lab- you guys are rock stars!
(PS- if you are a brunette person like myself and are on the fence between the 100% henna and the Auburn shade, as I was, go with the pure henna. It’ll give you a fiery auburn that looks as if you were born with it!)
Aubrey –
My color was strong and beautiful from the rinse, but it just keeps deepening and getting more lovely. I applied it over two month old chemical color and highlights with roots showing. It is so lovely and much softer and shinier. My highlights took the color nicely and they blend well with just a little lighter tone. Soooo pleased!
I left it on for 4 hours and my additives were boiled and strained onion skins and green tea and half a can of coconut milk.

I just wanted to send you guys a quick message and tell you how much I absolutely LOVE. MY. NEW. HAIR. … I am completely floored by the results. I bought Pure Red Henna. I went from Platinum white blonde to looking like Merida from Brave …. I have never ever ever *EVER* been this happy with my hairs condition or color. I am a Henna Color Lab LIFER <3!! Thank you a million times over for doing what I and so many Hair Salons have failed endlessly to do; restore my hairs health and give me the most luxurious, head-turning, richest color I have ever seen. I am planning on making a second purchase again tonight (I had trial sizes of your minty mix 'poo and conditioner and I must have more:P!) Anyways! Thanks again! I hope your Holiday has been lovely <3! xx!

Just wanted to let you know how ridiculously pleased I am with your product!!!!!! Yesterday was my first time using henna hair color of any kind, and I am THRILLED with the results! I’ve been coloring my hair red for years and years, and I can honestly say that I’ve never had a color that is this vibrant and rich; I am amazed at how it picked up so many of the highlights and lowlights in my hair! It’s very bright and vibrant but still somehow has a naturally-looking feel to it. The instructions in the package were crystal clear (thanks for the plastic cap!). If the color holds anything close to the normal fade-out period for the chemical colors I’ve been using for way too long, you’ll have an official henna convert on your hands. THANK YOU!!!!
Marina –
Wow, this henna is so finely sifted that I managed to wash it out with water only! It didn’t dry out or tangle my hair like other, store-bought hennas. The true color will reveal in several days, but I already like it the way it is. Even my grays look more red than orange-y.
P.S. I followed the guide for applying pure henna: added 1 tbs apple cider vinegar and left the mixture to stand for a few hours.

I have medium/dark brown curly hair with lots of natural highlights from living in year round sun. I used pure henna on the bottom section of my hair (Long or thick hair, 2 packs are definitely needed!!!) for two hours, just as instructed, hoping to get a nice auburn tint. Nothing happened. No change whatsoever. It was shinier and softer, I could tell my hair benefited health-wise from the treatment, but the actual coloring did not take place AT ALL. Next time I’m trying the black hair package (2 henna, 2 indigo, 1 shampoo). I hope this works! I really love the idea of this product!

I am in love with this product! My natural hair color is a mousy blond/brown. I’ve bee dying it chemically anywhere from natural red to deep mahogany brown for years now. The problem is the red always faded within 4 weeks and I was left with a very dull, unattractive red. The only thing to do was dye it again, usually ever 6 weeks. I went to pick up some more hair dye and the same day I overheard someone talking about henna. I was never aware that you could use henna on your hair. I did LOTS of research and decided to give it a try. Color lab seemed to be perfect and had great instructions and f&q page for me (being nervous). I bought the pure henna. I did a strand test (2 hours) that morning and decided to give it a go. My husband applied it for me. It was SUPER easy. It only dripped once on my leg. Nothing like I had read online like destroying the bathroom, although I do have short pixie like hair so that made it easier. The smell was like a wet forest, muddy. Not bad at all. I left it on for 2 hours and then followed the instructions to wash it out. Came out no problem. No staining of towels or pillowcases, etc. That day it was red with a VERY bright orange tint. I relaxed and remembered that it takes up to 3 days to oxidize and calm down. They were right! With in 3 days it calmed down into a gorgeous, natural red color. It’s been 3 weeks now and not a hint of fading compared to my strand test I still have. I might do it again in a few weeks to achieve a deeper color. My biggest advice is to do the strand test and don’t freak out if it is more orange than red on day one.

I am in love with my hair and I can’t stop admiring it in the mirror! As a graying natural redhead, I have used commercial hair dyes for about 7 years and my hair was getting fried. I can’t believe I forgot about henna. I have been eliminating toxins from our home, cleaning products and personal care produces and came across henna color labs. Talk about life-changing! I ordered the pure henna– I was a little afraid of the color being too strong, but my natural color was vibrant, so I went for it! It was incredible easy to use (my husband applied it for me), smooth and creamy. My thick, mid-back length hair only used 1 1/2 packs of henna. I left it on for the full 2 hours, rinsed with a GOOD conditioner (no harsh or scary ingredients), blew it dry, and fell in love! The color was incredible, vibrant, and natural looking. Over the next 2 weeks it mellowed to a gorgeous copper and my hair is softer and more manageable. When I would color my hair with commercial dye, my hair color would fade and it was almost like the color would slide off from my roots– it would get really ugly– but the henna color labs pure henna has stayed beautiful for six weeks and now only my roots need touching up (although I will still apply the henna all over too). Thank you for such an amazing natural product!

By far the best henna I’ve ever used! It is so finely milled and is easy to mix. I could really tell the difference because I have used pure henna before, but this henna gave me the best coppery red color. The result is beautiful and I will be using this henna from now on! I like that I can depend on it to be consistently good quality.

Absolutely love this stuff in any color! I recommend it for anyone who want healthy beautiful hair!

I love love LOVE this product! I started coloring my hair red three years ago and had only dyed all of it one time. I wanted to freshen up the color for the summer, but didn’t want to damage my hair by chemically dying it.
And that is when I discovered this natural miracle! I applied it to my hair, left it in over night and the next day after washing it my hair felt gritty, brittle and dry (of course, that’s not the case at ALL, it only felt that way because there was still a bit of henna left in my hair.) After a few more washes, my hair felt healthier than ever before and the color was so vibrant and natural!
The only problem that I’ve had with this is that every time you get your hair wet, you can smell the henna. I dyed mine back in June (it’s now August) and even today when I shower and rinse out the conditioner there’s a little pool of yellow (plant matter) where the water rinsed through my hair. I don’t mind it all, but other people might. Other than that, this is the most fantastic thing to use on your hair and I definitely recommend it!

I came across this website by accident and I couldn’t be happier that I did. I have been applying henna on my hair for about 2 years now and I have never received such amazing customer service. Sally has helped me now twice, both emails were answered literally in hours from when I sent mine. This goes very far with me. The henna I bought for copper results was wine red and the pure henna. The color is unbelievable! I have never been so impressed and I have used every safe henna out there. The price is wonderful and the application time has been cut down from waiting 12 hrs for dye release, to instantly. That part of the henna process I hated and henna color lab has made it an enjoyable experience for me now. I can do this and not waste an entire 2 days on my hair. You guys now have another loyal customer. Great great job!!!!!

This was an absolutely amazing experience. I’ve used the Lush henna bars in the past and it was always a pain to have to grate them down and everything. The dye mixture would also clump and get stuck to my head and be an overall hassle. But that, however, did not happen with this at all! I started with a bleached blonde hair color and ended up with a gorgeous ginger/orange hair color. It’s also overly shiny and looks as though my hair has natural highlights. LOVE IT! Absolutely recommend.

I colored all my hair with henna this past Monday and it was my first time ever using a non-chemical dye on my hair. I have naturally brassy auburn hair and have been dyeing it all different colors for years. Finally, I decided to go red again, dyeing it a shade a little more coppery than my natural hue. I have been dyeing it red for over a year now but was growing tired of the damage, limpness, and fading. Therefore, I decided to try henna. I did a little research and finally decided to try color lab because of its business practices and high quality product. I ordered the pure henna looking for that natural copper cast. Before I received it in the mail (very quickly I might add-very impressed with this) I called the 1-800 number and talked to Dave for application tips and anything I could add to the mixture to really bring out the citrus notes. He said a little lemon juice should do it. I used one package on my thick, past shoulder length hair mixed with 2/3 c water and 1/3 cup lemon juice. I was my hair twice as instructed, applied the mixture to all my hair with a brush, put on the provided shower cap, and let it sit for about 2 1/2 hours. There were some clumps in the mixture even with rigorous stirring but it did not affect the application of the color too badly. Rinsing it out was not nearly as hard as I thought it would be; a little conditioner got it out without much trouble at all. I blow-dried it and voila! my hair was a gorgeous copper-red. After a few days, the color has matured to an even deeper copper color. It is very manageable, soft, and very thick! I already have thick hair and now it is just voluptuous! I am very very pleased with this product and will continue to only color my hair with henna in the future. Dave was very helpful on the phone. I recommend calling the number on the site if you’re unsure/new to henna. I think the best part is the it is so natural looking, no one even questions if it is dyed anymore, they just assume it’s all me! Considering I identify heavily as a redhead ( I come from a whole lot of ’em, and pretty sassy to boot), this is very important to me!

Thank you for getting it here so quickly. I used it and my hair color is fabulous. Lots of compliments. Even my hairdresser asked what I did. Lot’s of shine and has made my fine hair so much thicker. My hair is really short, so I only needed 1/2 a package. Thanks so much, I’ll be back for more.
– Happy Holidays!

Love, love, love henna!
I normally use Lush Cosmetics henna bars and I will only use Color Lab henna from now on.
The product arrived quickly, the application was less complicated than Lush bars, the smell was fresh and earthy, and the color is amazing! I have naturally dark brown hair, so the pure henna turned my hair a medium brown with gorgeous natural highlights of a reddish and coppery color. After a few days the color looks even better! My hair is so shiny and feels soft and healthy.
You can’t beat the price either. My hair is past shoulder length and one of these 3.5oz packages provides 2 applications for me. I will gladly be purchasing my henna hair needs through color lab from now on! I can’t wait to try other colors! Thank you so much!

This was my first time using henna, and I was a little nervous considering I colored my hair less than three weeks ago.
I did a strand test just to make sure that this product would not interact badly with my dye job. Of course, there were no issues, so I went ahead and applied the red henna. I left it on for two hours last night and was shocked to find the color to be better than I could have ever hoped for. I have never achieved such fantastic results even after paying stylists a small fortune. My hair is the most beautiful shade of coppery-red, and I can’t wait to see how the color progresses over the next few days. I’d love to share a photo, but I don’t see an option to upload one here.
I am so happy to have found an alternative to chemical dyes and the high cost of going to the salon. My hair feels so much healthier, as well. I will be solely using your products from now on. Thank you!
